PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2010-present. Owner/Artist: Mary Diman Fine Art, Madison, WI
Traditional fine art painting: oils, acrylics, watercolor, especially the figure, portraits, still life, and landscapes.
1992-present. Senior Artist. Illustrator, graphic designer web designer, editor, photographer, Department of Geoscience, University of Wisconsin-Madison.
1987-present. Instructor, painting, continuing education (adult outreach) classes in Madison and Spring Green. University of Wisconsin-Madison, Department of Liberal Studies and the Arts.
2012, 2013. Instructor, painting. Path to Art’s week-long studio painting workshop at Green Lake, WI. In October.
2011. Juror, the Wisconsin Regional Art Program (WRAP) show, Whitewater, WI, June 25.
2002-2010. Instructor, painting, drawing, Department of Liberal Studies and the Arts, Annual UW-Madison’s week-long School of the Arts at Rhinelander. In July.

2009-2013 (Professional service, ongoing). Webmaster, auction website. Art of Note, A major fund raising auction event to benefit the UW-Madison’s Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra.
2005. Curator and designer of a month-long exhibition at the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters, Madison, “The Science and the Art of Charles Bradley.” The exhibit traveled to the University of Montana. Also web designer.
1982. Privately commissioned memorial painting, Madison, documenting the 1942 Nazi destruction and mass execution of a Russian village, which has significant historical ties to Madison. Donated by the patron to the permanent collection of a Madison worship center.
1981, 1979. Created life-sized paintings of the Dinotherium (prehistoric elephant) the Titanothere (prehistoric rhinoceros), Geology Museum, UW-Madison.
1998, 1996, 1988. Juror, Wisconsin Regional Artist Association’s annual state and local exhibitions.
1993. Member of a team to providing a two-day on-site review of the Visual Communications Program at the Madison Area Technical College. For the District Director and the State Board to provide a basis for implementing program improvements. (Professional service)
1982-84. Artist Advisory Board, Milwaukee Art Museum Wisconsin Gallery. Served two 12-month terms. (Professional Service)
1979-84. President, vice-president. Center Gallery/Art Place, Inc. Madison, a nonprofit 100-member gallery presenting continuous exhibitions, traveling exhibitions, lectures and publications with funding from The National Endowment for the Arts, The Wisconsin Arts Board and The Dane County Cultural Affairs Committee. Art of Note, Invited artist. A fund raising event to benefit the UW-Madison Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra. Five visual artists created original works based on a violin. Works were exhibited in nine venues in Madison. January-March.

Featured artist/presenter at the 2013 Lorine Niedecker Wisconsin Poetery Festival in Fort Atkinson WI. October 11-12, 2013. “Poetry-The Art of It” featured five invited painters and with poets relating to the visual works. Poet Jolieth McIntosh responded to my painting, Blackhawk Island. My painting was also used as the promotional logo for the two-day event.
